3 nights in the intriguing city of Calcutta followed by 4 nights at the tranquil Glenburn Tea Estate in Darjeeling

Day 1

Arrive and transfer to The Glenburn Penthouse in the heart of historic Calcutta. The city’s first boutique hotel with 9 spacious suites, a gracious Living and Dining Room, terraces, balconies and a rooftop pool with panoramic views across the city.

Day 2 and 3

Explore Calcutta through her historic architecture, bustling markets, local gastronomy and interesting local residents. The 2 day tour includes historical and cultural walks, visits to local markets and museums, cemeteries and churches, a 2 hour sunset boat cruise, lunch on both days and tea and snacks along the way. Special interests and flexibility is of the utmost importance and will be taken into account on tour with our Glenburn Expert Guides.

Day 4

Travel by air and then road, to Glenburn Tea Estate in the Darjeeling foothills of the Indian Himalayas. A picnic is laid out at a scenic spot during the journey from the airport up to the estate. Arrive in the early evening and settle into your suite in our colonial-style bungalows. Enjoy the evening starting with drinks by the bonfire, followed by a sit-down four course dinner with your hosts and other guests in residence.

Day 5

Explore your 1,600-acre private estate with an introduction to the specialised art of growing and crafting Glenburn Tea. Visit the tea fields, interact with the tea pickers and follow the journey of “two leaves and bud” into the tea factory, ending with a tea tasting session to discover the incredible variety of flavours and aromas that come from a single bush through the different seasons. Lunch at the Bungalow followed by a gentle afternoon hike or some down time on one of our peaceful verandahs.

Day 6

Visit Darjeeling Town for the day - ride the Darjeeling Hill Railway “toy train”, visit the famous Ghoom Monastery, the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and stroll down the historic mall and chowrasta.

Day 7

Visit our local primary school and interact with the children during assembly. -Enjoy a 2 hour hike down to our Glenburn Campsite with a barbecue lunch and relaxation by the River Rangeet. Options for other hikes are also available.
